Project
The Cellars
- 122 apartments.
- Multiple common areas.
- Rich history.
- Unique cultural backdrop.
Starting the process at the drafting stage with the architect, Don McDonald, Alice planned the entire artistic look of the brand-new apartment complex. She created installations with new and historic works, collaborated with artists on original commissions and oversaw the vision for each space. Along with the builders and architects, she helped infuse San Antonio’s history and natural surroundings into a modern environment.
“It had to reflect the history of San Antonio in terms of its German heritage, its Mexican heritage, the importance of the San Antonio river as a connector, the beer business, the Texas history — all of those elements had to be a part of it.”
— Alice Carrington Foultz
Now finished and fully occupied, The Cellars is regarded as one of the best living spaces in the Southwest and beyond. Though challenges were sizable, the entire collection was installed on time and on budget.
